I have drawn some quick scamps to brainstorm some idea on an actual cover 'template'.

I have drawn photos of subject matter and in this case the fist place is on Japanese illustrations, while the second page is or more general cooking objects and food.

Photos Of Subject Matter

Why I liked the photos - These photos were clear and crisp and had good light. The subject matter was  interesting with no distractions.
Why I didn't like the photos - The photos were not in focus, the lighting was too dark, there wasn't one or to objects, there was a lot to look at and the backgrounds were also cluttered.
